Salut,
La description :
You are looking at a very nice, very solid, and very original (87,950 mile unmolested) 1970 Maverick Grabber. It has the original (complete new tune up, spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap and rotor, filters, etc) 250 6-cylinder engine (they did not come out with the V8 option till late 1970, see this website for more info on 1970 Grabber Mavericks http://www.maverick.to/grabber/70Grabber.html) and completely rebuilt (just installed) C4 automatic transmission. The car also has original Air Conditioning, which works good. I have owned the car for almost 2 years and have done a great deal of work to it. I never put it on the road to drive it (meaning tagged and insured), but as far as I know now it is road ready. The farthest I have driven the car is about 5 to 10 miles (each way). It ran, drove, and stopped fine, but honestly, that is the most I have driven it. Before I begin the description of the car, I just want to say that I will try to be as completely honest about every aspect of the car (I will probably make it sound worse than it is, but I’d rather be SUPER honest than try to hide anything at all). I am also an ASE Master Tech and a Ford and GM factory trained auto tech (I have owned my own shop for 12 years), so there will be no “surprises” when you come to pick up the car. I have had this vehicle on the lift with all 4 wheels off and have had the entire interior out of it as well. I do have a clear Pa title in my name ready to transfer.
The Body of this car is in AWESOME shape for a Maverick. The car originally came from the Carolina’s somewhere but I actually bought it in New York (yes, I know NY cars are normally rusty, but it was only in NY for a few short years). The car was repainted several years ago (single stage paint, no clear) but it is not a 100-point show paint job. It looks great, even up close, but could have been a little better in a few spots. The color is not the original color, it was a goldish color originally (can see some of it in the under hood pics on the fire wall. The only rust repair was the bottoms of both of the rear quarter panels and inside the front lip of the hood (which by the way, 1970 Mav Grabbers did not have the bubbled scooped hoods), neither was any major rust at all, just very minor. There is very little filler in these areas (see pics, you can see it on the inner lip of the wheel well). The only other rust I have ever found was behind the batter in the battery tray area from a leaky battery. The rest of this car is SUPER solid. The passenger side front of the car (where the grille and fender mounts) does not line up perfectly (like the fender was bumped at one time) but the cars not wrecked or twisted or anything like that. I took pics of all of the normal rust areas and you can see it is a very solid maverick. The surface rust in the trunk floor is just that, surface rust only. All of the floors, frames, and everything else is VERY nice and rust free. As for the rest of the body/exterior, both right and left sport mirrors are there and in good shape. The rear spoiler is on the car also. The window felts are new and the door handles are new also. The main “bad point” of the exterior is the bumpers. Neither is or was rusted out, but both had a good bit of surface rust on them so when I first got the car I sanded them, primed them, and painted them silver/grey. They look 100 times better than rust, but not as good as chrome of course. Both bumpers are fine to be re plated.
The engine and rear differential of the car is still the original with 87,940 miles on the clock. The engine is the biggest option one available in early 70 the 250 I6. The trans is the regular C4 column shift automatic, with an 8” rear. The engine smokes a little, not all the time and some times worse than others (like when its first started). I suspect valve stem seals to be the culprit, but I am not going to say for sure. Again, I want to be as completely honest as I can. I did do a complete tune up on the car including new: Spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap and rotor, points and condenser, air filter, fuel filter, and it also has a new (rebuilt) carburetor. All of the fluids have been changed also. I replaced the exhaust manifold and installed a new exhaust. Even though the A/C worked when I purchased the car, it was a little low so I did convert it to R134A Freon and it blows very cold now. The front brakes are brand new (along with re-built wheel cylinders), the rear brakes are like new (along with rebuilt wheel cylinders in the rear as well) and the brakes work fine. The suspension and steering are all tight on the car also.
The interior of the car is in great shape overall. As I said, it has factory A/C and it also has the mini console option, which is also in awesome shape. I replaced the headliner and carpet in the car. The front seat has a small tear on the drivers side bottom, so I put a cheap all black seat cover on it for now (I was going to look for a set of buckets for it). The rear seat is in great shape along with the rest of the interior. The original radio is in the car but does not work (lights up, but no sound). The interior light is missing (it was all broken up) in the ceiling, but I did cut out for it in the new headliner.

__________________________________________ ----------------------------------
